Spec Op: The Line Devs Next Title An FPS in Unreal 4

YAGER’s third-person shooter “Spec Ops: The line” was a fourth-wall leaning, morality shaking experience that was critically well received but didn’t sell too well. It questioned why we play the role of the soldier coming to save the day again and again in a gruesome and upfront manner. How are YAGER carrying on from there?

Epic Games revealed today that YAGER has licensed the Unreal 4 engine and is the first European independant studio to do so. “Unreal Engine 4 is, hands down, the best toolset for creating next-generation, AAA games” said Timo Ullman, managing director at Yager. This is exciting news to any who played Spec Ops, but what type of game will they be making?

A short look at YAGER’s website shows they are working an a AAA first-person shooter with more information coming soon. Hopefully info will drop pre-E3 as to whether they will be continuing the themes of Spec Ops or if they will be taking themselves in a different direction. After their last game it probably isn’t too wrong to assume it is something that will challenge the ways we think about games again.
