Sonic and Pac-Man Artist Greg Martin Dies

Greg Martin, the artist behind some of the most significant and memorable game box art, including artwork for early Sonic and Pac-Man games has passed away.

The news was announced over the Nintendo Age forums, where a friend of Martin recalled his career as an artist.

Martin started his career at Tom & Jerry and The Flintstones animation studio Hanna Barbera, before switching to the games industry. He reportedly working there at the same time Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane did.

His list of video game box art creations includes multiple Sonic the Hedgehog and Pac-Man games, as well as numerous licensed games for the Jetsons and Flintstones franchises.
