Sly Cooper Movie Announced, Coming Out 2016

The Sly Cooper series is now set to take to the big screen after the announcement of a film adaption, coming in 2016. Not only that, but they have already released a short trailer. NeoGaf were the first to notice this information after the creation of a Sly Cooper Movie Facebook page.

Being created by Rainmaker Studios, the same team behind the Ratchet and Clank movie adaptation set for release next year, it will feature a slightly redesigned Sly and the Gang gang facing off against Clockwerk, an evil howl that has hounded Sly’s family for generations. Sly Cooper doesn’t follow the games continuity, but appears to stay true to the style and humor of the source material. It will be written and directed by Kevin Monroe, who has worked on Hey Arnold, The Any Bully, and most recently, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night.

The Sly Cooper game series was originally created by Sucker Punch back in 2002, but has since changed hands in 2010 when Sanzura Games developed Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.

Rainmaker are veterans at creating CG films and TV shows, creating the first entirely CG television series, ReBoot, in 1994. While they aren’t as well known as other CG based studios, there experience in the field should hopefully produce a good game adaptation. However, we will have to wait two years to see if this is true.
