SEGA Mega Drive/ Genesis: Collected Works Book Crowdfunded in 48hrs

SEGA Mega Drive/ Genesis: Collected Works is an extensive retrospective look at the SEGA Mega Drive, or Genesis as it was known in the US.

The console launched in the late 80’s and early 90’s, and was the driving force in reducing Nintendo’s dominance in the console market up to that point with the NES. Featuring games that spanned franchises that continue to this day, the Mega Drive or Genesis has become one of the most important game consoles.

The book, fully titled “SEGA Mega Drive/ Genesis: Collected Works” dives deep into the history and development of the console, and features a foreword by Dave Perry and a 10,000 word essay by Keith Stuart on SEGA, the early 90’s and the first real bitterly fought console war.

SEGA Mega Drive/ Genesis: Collected Works was conceived as a project on Kickstarter by Keith Stuart and Read-Only Memory. An “unparalleled treasury” of material is on offer here: concept art for the hardware itself, interviews and concept art for many of the console’s classic titles and characters, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage and Golden Axe.

Anyone who owned or played a SEGA Mega Drive or a Genesis back in the day will definitely want to pick this up. The Kickstarter was launched less than 48 hours ago, and reached its goal of £30,000 already, with 26 days left to go. What do you think?
