RuneScape Old School Reaches One Million Players

RuneScape continues to attract a large fanbase with a recent release of a 2007 version of their multi-award winning title. Known as RuneScape Old School over a million players have got involved with the title since February. This move was undertaken following a mass vote from over 450,000 RuneScape players who demanded for the launch of Old School. Jagex’s liberal use of the community by allowing their mass votes to sway the developmental direction of the game has kept gamers interested and the title very fresh.

This voting system continues to work. For example in a colossal vote  89% of the RuneScape community ushered in God Wars Dungeon to Old School RuneScape. This new content included several new bosses and weapon content with extra sets of armor and character progression also being introduced.

Phil Mansell, Executive Producer for RuneScape had this to say,

“Seeing RuneScape Old School hit the million player mark so soon after launch is a great milestone for the game and our players have joined the celebration by voting for the game’s most epic update to date. Players will need to be steadfast and defiant in order to win through and defeat the gods, but if successful, players will be rewarded beyond their wildest imagination. It is the ultimate game of seeking treasure or die trying – something RuneScape has grown famous for.”
