In a series of tweets to Shuhei Yoshida, fans of the Playstation 4 questioned about the recording and streaming capabilities of the console. Many were worrying that these new abilities will be exclusive to those with a Playstation + membership. In response to these tweets, Yoshida put the record straight:

Plain and simple, the Playstation 4 will allow all users to record and stream their games. You will not need a Playstation + membership to use these functions. This is a great revelations for fans that want to capture their gaming moments and share them with their friends. However this does not answer another question that has also been brewing about the PS4’s recording capabilities. Sony have yet to release a statement concerning 3rd party recorders and whether they will be usable with the PS4. With many websites, ours included, that use recorders to get gameplay footage for videos, this could be a crippling blow.

Overall this isn’t bad news, but there are still many questions about the PS4’s recording and sharing limitations.

What do you think of Yoshida’s clarification? Will you be streaming and recording on your PS4? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments.
