The new option being given to games developers working on the PS4 will be the ability to decide what order their game will be downloaded in. This option enables sections of the game that a consumer may want more, such as the multiplayer components of titles such as Battlefield to be downloaded first.

Developers will have the ability to discover what sections people want downloaded first and rearrange the order of their games default download accordingly with the new options.

Speaking to newspaper The Guardian, Drive Club’s technical director Scott Kirkland said: “If we recognise that a majority of people take a particular path through the game that we didn’t anticipate, we could dynamically modify the default order that the digital version of the game gets pulled down in – and actually, that same technique could apply to how the data is pulled off the Blu-ray as well. We can continue to make the experience better for the player.”
