Minecraft used to aid UN regeneration projects

Stay up to date on the latest in the gaming world

Whoever said games can’t be used for uses other than entertainment? Minecraft is being used to model 300 places across the globe for a project called Block for Block. Urban locations are being made so that residents can take a virtual tour, see what the area will be like and even influence how the regeneration cash will be sent. The first part to be modelled as a pilot was a Undugu Playground – part of the Kibera slum region on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Hopefully there will be 300 areas modelled by 2016, which will allow people to have more of a say in how their locale will change.
