Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Announced for 2014

A third instalment to the Lego Batman series, Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, has officially been announced, and will be hitting all major platforms later this year. The reveal was made through the above trailer, showcasing the usual light-hearted, comedic nature of the Lego games, despite our Dark Knight’s utmost efforts to be a serious, brooding figure.

While not much has been revealed about the game on the whole, we do know that Beyond Gotham follows on from its predecessor, DC Super Heroes, and takes our cast a little further afield as they venture into space. The main villain of the game will be Brainiac, who has used the power of the Lantern Rings to shrink worlds for his own personal miniatures collection. To stop him, the greatest DC heroes and villains must unite to collect the Lantern Rings and save the world.

It has been confirmed that the game will feature 150 unlockable DC universe characters, including large Lego figures such as Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy. Iconic locations will also be a focus, with the Hall of Justice, the Justice League Watchtower and the Batcave all making appearances. On the whole it sounds like it could be on a similar scale to the relatively recent Lego Marvel Super Heroes, but we’ll have to wait and see how it measures up against its rival.
