Great Detective Pikachu Arrives In Japan Next Month

When it comes to spin-offs for the Pokemon franchise, there have been trading card games, safari simulators and even TV channel testing software, but the latest entry in the worldwide phenomenon series is an elementary step into the world of solving crimes. Great Detective Pikachu was originally shown back in 2013 on a Japanese TV show, but has now been revealed to the general public.

Great Detective Pikachu will arrive for Nintendo 3DS on the 3rd of February 2016 in Japan, and the first teaser trailer shows the main human character and the Sherlock Holmes style Pikachu travelling around the city solving the public’s problems. Taking a leaf from Team Rocket’s Meowth that can speak multiple languages, Detective Pikachu will also speak in a human voice. It is unknown at this point whether any other Pokemon in the game world will share this unique trait, but the initial footage shows ordinary versions of creatures such as Murkrow, Pikachu, Pidove and Trevanant speaking in their native tongues.

No announcement of an English adaption has been made at present, but if you are interested in seeing what looks to be the best looking Pokemon game on a portable console yet, be sure to check out the announcement trailer below.
