EVO 2014: Raiden Is Announced For MKX

In an announcement from Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios after the Injustice Grand Finals at EVO 2014, the Thunder God Raiden is announced as playable in Mortal Kombat X.

Shown off in a trailer which had him duking it out with Kotal Kahn, Raiden’s lightning based moves are pretty much in tact, with special Electrocution Kombos and a shocking Fatality, which has him zapping an opponent’s brain until their eyes pop out, then throwing their head into the air and blasting it with lightning. How very understated.

Also shown in the trailer was Raiden’s 3 variations, which are new to Mortal Kombat X. One variation called Displacer, utilises his trademark mobility, focusing on his teleports, with one called Storm Lord making him more of a zoning character by allowing him to create lightning traps while his final variation called Thunder God focuses on the previously mentioned Electrocution Kombos to create long, and very damaging combos.
