EG Momochi Crowned Champion at Capcom Cup 2014

In an electrifying and upset-filled tournament, EG Momochi has officially been crowned Capcom Cup 2014 Champion, after beating RZR Xian in Grand Finals after coming from the Losers bracket. Surprising everyone and destroying many fantasy brackets, Momochi’s Ken methodically tore through the competition to come out top in the end.

The tournament was full of amazing moments, like PR Balrog’s amazing Red Focus to knock out Daigo ‘The Beast’ Umehara, as well as his elimination of Fuudo straight after. Upsets like Snake Eyez’ unfortunate early exit and Justin Wong’s destruction at the hands of Daigo made this tournament up there with the likes of Evo and Canada Cup this year.

Next year’s tournament looks to be even bigger, with the Sony-Capcom partnership elevating next year’s prize pool to $500,000. You can check out the final rankings of the tournament here and expect more fighting game news and tournaments in the new year.
