DayZ Standalone Game Delayed By Bugs

Dean “Rocket” Hall, creator of the original DayZ mod, has taken to Reddit to explain what is taking so long to develop DayZ as a standalone game. The full thread can be found here, eager players were clamoring for any news about the game.

In response to the fans, Hall replied that “Optimizing/Bugfixing Dedicated server” as the reasonswhy we are not out. We need performance“. The DayZ mod was based on ArmA, a very resourse demanding game. For more people to be able to experience the harsh world of zombie survival, the required specs would have to be lessened.

Hall goes into the nitty-gritty details of what he is doing to optimize the code from ArmA, so we won’t bore you with in-depth details. In layman’s terms though, the game isn’t ready yet because Hall and his team are trying theirb est to optimize and debug the game as best as possible.

When asked about a release date he stated :

“If I start saying ‘oh it won’t be out then’ people start asking me about the day after, and the day after. So it just encourages people to keep asking me when it is, and the ‘announced date’ would be when I go ‘yeah, it could be out then’

So basically it is coming, just not for a while.

What do you think? Have you played the mod or are you waiting for the standalone release? Let us know in the comments.
