Call of Duty: Ghosts Confirmed Native 720p On Xbox One, 1080p On PS4

Mark Rubin, producer at Call of Duty Ghosts’ developer Infinity Ward, has posted via TwitLonger that the two next-gen console versions of Call Of Duty: Ghosts will run at different resolutions natively.

The resolution difference between the two versions started as a rumor on the gaming message board NeoGAF, where it quickly turned into a discussion on the true capabilities of the Xbox One. Citing hitting the 60fps mark as a reason, Mark Rubin confirmed that the Xbox One will natively run the game at 720p and then upscale it to 1080p, while the PS4 version is native 1080p. Of course, without a side-by-side comparison or an in-depth video examination, it remains to be seen what impact this will have, if at all.

Here is the full text of his post:

“Hey, been on the road last couple weeks so haven’t had a chance to update, but wanted to confirm that for Xbox One we’re 1080p upscaled from 720p. And, we’re native 1080p on PS4.  We optimized each console to hit 60 FPS and the game looks great on both. Still on the road, but glad to see the great reception to Extinction.  Can’t wait for next week’s launch.”
