Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 gets its most creative and ambitious DLC to date

‘Uprising’, the latest DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, is set to be one of its most creative and ambitious DLC’s to date. From a volcanic town overflown with lava to Zombie Mobsters in Alcatraz, the second dlc pack for the game will be made available first, exclusively on Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 from 16th April 2013, with other platforms to follow. You can look at the preview video below before we get into more details.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Uprising will contain four new multiplayer maps, plus an exciting new Zombie experience called ‘Mob of the Dead’ that takes place in Alcatraz prison with four of the actors behind some of Hollywood’s most iconic mobsters, including Ray Liotta, Chazz Palminteri, Joe Pantoliano and Michael Madsen.

Mark Lamia, Treyarch’s Studio Head, said:

“With Uprising, the team has really outdone itself. In addition to creating four amazing new multiplayer maps, the studio has been hard at work on the Zombies front to surpass what we accomplished with ‘Call of the Dead’. What we’ve done this time around is nothing Zombies fans have seen before – and if you don’t believe me, just wait until you get into Purgatory.”

It certainly all sounds exciting! The Mob of the Dead experience finds four prohibition-era mobsters, Billy Handsome (Liotta), Al “The Weasel” Arlington (Pantoliano), Salvatore “Sal” DeLuca (Palmentiri) and Michael “Finn” O’Leary (Madsen) serving time in Alcatraz. Their plan for a jail break is foiled by the rise of the undead, and the mobsters must depend on their skills with firearms, blunt instruments and improvised weaponry as they fight for survival. In order to survive, players need to make their way through steel cells and aging concrete buildings while fighting off waves of undead. Additionally, if a player becomes a victim of the zombies, a new feature called ‘Purgatory’ sends players into the afterlife.

The four new maps you will also be getting are:

– Magma: A Modern Japanese village with volcanic eruptions carving multiple paths through the town

– Encore: This takes place in the aftermath of a deserted London music festival.

– Vertigo: A futuristic high rise in India housing a high tech lab.

– Studio: A contemporary remake of ‘Firing Range’, a fan favourite map from Call of Duty: Black Ops. It’s a Hollywood movie back lot with a variety of cinematic themes that range from Sci-Fi to the Old West.

As we’ve already said, Uprising will be made available for the Xbox 360 console first from 16th April for 1200 Microsoft Points. Luckily this is also included in the Season Pass if you already have it, so it should come up as an update for players with the Pass rather than having to purchase it separately.
