Annoucement Trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game Surfaces

If it wasn’t enough that today we found out that the upcoming ‘Summer Camp’ has now taken on the Friday the 13th mantel, developers ‘Gun Media’ have wasted no time in riding the hype train and have unleashed an announcement trailer that’s given us plenty of reason to be excited. The idea of stomping around as Jason Voorhees was one thing, but now they’ve gone and given us this.

Gun Media, you’re spoiling us.

Released in support of their current Kickstarter, the trailer begins in typical Friday the 13th style, panning across shady woods adorned with various undergarments. Overladen is a narration lifted directly from the source material as Mrs Voorhees recounts the loss of her dear sweet Jason. It’s pure fan-service but in the best possible way. Sadly there’s no actual gameplay shown but it’s early days and the Kickstarter has gotten off to a good start, so it’s hard to imagine it won’t soon follow.

The game itself is a multi-player 1-VS-7 survival scenario in which one player takes on the role of top-class maniac Jason Voorhees and the rest play his potential victims. From there it becomes a game of cat-and-mouse and tense battles as you try to be the only player who survives the long night at camp blood.

There’s a Current Kickstarter page that the developers are using to “expand he scope of the game and give backers the ability to be a part of the franchise forever – by claiming special rewards ranging from early access to the game and unlocking various Jason’s from the films to once-in-a-lifetime access to horror legends and even claiming a role within the game as one of the counsellors”.

Friday the 13th: The Game will be unleashed in Fall of 2016 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and Steam.
