PlayStation VR Launching This Fall

GameStop is to start selling Sony’s PlayStation VR headset this autumn, as revealed by the retailer’s CEO Paul Raines yesterday during an interview on Mornings with Maria.

Appearing on the Fox Business channel show, Raines discussed GameStop’s business and their plans to work with Sony on PlayStation VR along with HTC and is “in discussions” with Oculus about selling their VR in store.“Its a big launch (for VR), we’re getting ready for it, we will launch the Sony product this fall, and we are in discussions with the other two players.”

Although there still isn’t an official release date this is later than Sony originally planned, stating that they were looking for release in early 2016. Their competitors will soon be launching as the Oculus Rift begins shipping on 28th March to those that have pre-ordered, while HTC Vive pre-orders are due to open on 29th February.

Sony remain tight-lipped on the pricing of their new VR product saying only that the headset will be priced as a “new gaming platform.” We will update the story as more details are uncovered.
