Blizzard Begin to Shut Down Diablo III Auction House

Six months ago, Blizzard announced that Diablo III’s somewhat controversial Auction House was to be shut down. Today, that process begins.

As of right now, players can no longer bid, buyout or list new items in the Auction House. However, the Auction House will continue to remain accessible until June 24th, so that players can collect their items and gold for the auctions that are still active. After this point, the feature will be phased out entirely.

Originally intended to provide players with a safe and convenient means of trading, Blizzard came to regret their decision to set up the Auction House as they realised it undermines the very heart of Diablo III; kill enemies and get loot. While it has been a great asset to players all over the world, fans will now have to return to collecting items the old fashioned way.

If you have any queries or concerns about the shut down, be sure to check out the FAQ on the Diablo III forums.
