Mystic Chronicles Headed to the PSP and PS Vita

Natsume Inc., a worldwide developer and publisher of family-oriented video games, today revealed that its upcoming PlayStation Network title, Mystic Chronicles, has gone gold. Developed by Kemco, the game became an immediate cult classic in Japan and will be landing in North America this summer. With its retro-style graphics, story-driven quests, and a turn-based battle system, Natsume is launching the digital version for both PSP and PS Vita on July 16th for a suggested retail price of $14.99.

“Mystic Chronicles is a perfect fit for fans of retro 16-bit RPGs,” said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO at Natsume. “The game offers tons of customization to players, with the guild, workshop, and unique Guardian Beast system, along with a cast full of intriguing and adorable characters.”

One of the most exciting features in the game will be Mystic Chronicles’ Guardian Beast system. This gameplay feature will have the player assigning a godlike beast to each character, and setting its AI to offensive, defensive, or healing. With lots of Guardian Beasts to mix and match among your party members, picking your favorite might be a quest in itself!

Mystic Chronicles follows the story of a mysterious youth, Lux, adopted by a small village. Lux has just begun his training to join the Holos Guild, a society charged with ridding the world of troublemakers. However, a chance meeting with a young girl sets in motion a series of events that sets Lux on a far more serious quest than just defeating ornery forest creatures! Could Lux end up being the savior of the entire world?!
